Active substances:
Procain benzylpenicillin – 200,000 IU
Dihidrostreptomycin (as sulphate) – 200 mg
INDICATIONS
It is recommended for horses, cattle, sheep, pigs, dogs and cats for the treatment of bacterial, postoperative and / or secondary infections due to various infections caused by germs sensitive to the action of active substances:
Horses: Metrites, pneumonia, bronchopneumonia.
Bovines and sheep: cutaneous abscesses, actinomycosis, underlying diseases, arthritis, anthrax, leptopirosis, mastitis, metritis, pneumonia and bronchopneumonia.
Pigs: Arthritis, abortions (Brucella, Leptospira, and other sensitive germs), leptospirosis, ruje, pneumonia, bronchopneumonia, MMA syndrome.
Dogs and cats: arthritis, uro-genital infections, pneumonia, tracheobronchitis, peritonitis.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Do not administer to:
Animals with hypersensitivity to β-lactam antibiotics, aminoglycosides and to any of the excipients.
Animals with renal insufficiency, hepatopathies, cardiopathies and cochleo-vestibular lesions.
Animals less than 1 month old.
Rabbits, Guinea pigs and hamsters.
SIDE EFFECTS
An allergic or anaphylactic reaction may occur in animals with hypersensitivity. These reactions have a higher incidence in elderly dogs and cattle, the symptoms being: salivation, tremors, vomiting, breathing difficulties and cutaneous edema. In severe cases, administration of epinephrine and / or corticoids should be discontinued.
In pigs: Occasionally in stressful situations, transient fever, tremors, tremor, and apathy may occur.
Smooth skin and swelling with local edema and muscle pain can be observed in fine and white skin.
If you notice any serious effects or other effects not mentioned in this leaflet, please inform your veterinary surgeon.
TARGET SPECIES
Horses, cattle, sheep, pigs, horses (not for human consumption), dogs and cats.
It is administered intramuscularly in doses of:
– Cattle, sheep, pigs and horses: 6000-12000 IU procain benzylpenicillin + 6-12 mg dihidrostreptomycin / kg g.c. / day (equivalent to 0.3-0.6 ml CEN-A-PEN / 10 kg g.c./day)
– Dogs and cats: 10000-20000 IU procain benzylpenicillin + 10-12 mg dihidrostreptomycin / kg g.c. / day (equivalent to 0.5 – 1 ml CEN-A-PEN / 10 kg g.c. / day)
Treatment continues for 1 or 2 days after symptom remission.
RECOMMENDATIONS ON CORRECT ADMINISTRATION
To ensure accurate dosing, accurately measure the body weight of the animals, whenever possible, to avoid underdosing.
During administration, aseptic conditions will be maintained and the injection site will be previously disinfected with alcohol.
WAITING TIME
Cattle, sheep, pigs:
– Meat and offal: 30 days.
– Milk: 3 days
The use in horses for human consumption is not authorized.
SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS FOR STORAGE
Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
Store at a temperature not exceeding 25 ° C.
Store in the original package.
Protect from light.
Store in a dry place.
Do not use after the expiry date marked on the label after {EXP}.
Shelf-life after first opening the immediate packaging: 28 days.
Special warnings for each target species – does not exist.
Special precautions for use in animals:
Use of the product will be based on susceptibility testing of isolated bacteria.
If this is not possible, therapy will be based on epidemiological information on the susceptibility of isolated bacteria. Use of the product outside the SPC guidelines may increase the prevalence of resistance to active substances and may result in decreased efficacy of treatments due to cross-resistance.
National and regional antimicrobial policies should be considered when using the product.
It is not given by subcutaneous or intravenous route or near major nerves.
During treatment, renal function will be controlled especially in young animals.
Prolonged treatments, especially carnivores, will be avoided.
Special precautions to be taken by the person administering the veterinary medicinal product to animals
Persons with known hypersensitivity to active substances should avoid contact with the veterinary medicinal product. In case of accidental self-injection, seek medical advice immediately and show the package leaflet or the label of the product.
Use during gestation or lactation
It is used during gestation only when the benefits of administration predominate on fetal risk due to dihydrostreptomycin that may cause fetal cochleo-vestibular toxicity.
