PRESENTATION: 5 ml bottle

COMPOSITION Each ml contains:

Butorphanol tartrate – 30 mg
Vehicle cbp – 1 ml

PHARMACOLOGICAL CLASSIFICATION: Opioid Agonist-Antagonist

PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION: It has affinity for mu receptors acting as a competitive antagonist, but it exerts its anesthetic action acting as an agonist at kappa receptors.

INDICATIONS: For reversible narcosis in white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus), black bear (Ursus americanus), white rhinoceros (Ceratotherium simum), black rhinoceros (Diceros bicornis) and African lion (Panthera leo).

CONTRAINDICATIONS: It should not be used in animals for human consumption or in animals hypersensitive to butorphanol tartrate. Do not use during pregnancy and lactation.

PRECAUTIONS: Administer with caution in animals with liver and / or kidney problems (if required, use half of the suggested doses), animals with cardiac problems or with head trauma, elevated intracranial pressure or some other CNS dysfunction due to the probable association with an increase in CO2 retention and the consequent elevation of the pressure of the cerebrospinal fluid. The effects of miosis or altered states of consciousness produced by the drug interfere with the neurological evaluation of patients with head trauma.

WITHDRAWAL PERIOD: Butonil 30X should not be used in animals for human consumption, therefore no withdrawal period is established.

OVERDOSE: Euphoria or dysphoria, hypoventilation, bradycardia, temporary decrease in intestinal motility, constipation, coma and death may occur, especially if overdosed in combination with other anesthetics.

TREATMENT: Signs of overdose can be treated with naltrexone at 1.34 ± 0.42 mg / kg in herbivores and 0.567 mg / kg in carnivores. Naltrexone can also be applied in relation to the amount of total mg of butorphanol administered at a rate of 2 to 3 mg for each mg of butorphanol used.

Additionally, the patient can be maintained with supplementation of O2, vasopressor agents, fluids and assisted ventilation if necessary.

SIDE EFFECTS: If used in isolation, excitement and dysphoria or euphoria may occur. In continuous use for more than 48 hours, paralytic ileus can occur due to decreased intestinal motility.

USE WARNINGS: Use latex gloves when loading syringes or darts with this product. In case of contact with the skin, rinse with plenty of running water.

STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS: It should be kept protected from light, in a cool and dry place at no more than 65% relative humidity and at an ambient temperature between 15 ° C and 30 ° C.
